Q. How do I reach my physician if I experience problems after surgery?
A.

CTS is available to answer your questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During normal business hours, contact your physician's office with any questions or concerns you may have. After hours, dial the same number to reach our answering service who will put you in touch with our on-call physician.

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, DIAL 911 IMMEDIATELY

Q. After my surgery, when do I see my physician again?
A. You will be scheduled for a follow-up visit with your physician within three weeks following your procedure.

Q. What problems can I anticipate?
A.

Any surgical procedure has some inherent risk. Our physicians have consistently demonstrated that their patients have fewer complications when compared to national averages.

Q. How many procedures have you performed?
A.

Our patient can be confident that their CTS physician is highly experienced and have performed hundreds of open heart and thoracic procedures. Since the practice was founded in 1986, our surgeons have treated over 10,000 patients.

Q. How much will an open heart procedure cost? Is this covered by insurance?
A.

CTS performs a wide variety of surgical procedures with varying degrees of complexity and therefore, varying fees for our services. In the vast majority of cases, our patients' health plans provide coverage for surgical procedures. We encourage you to contact your health plan directly with questions related to reimbursement.

Q. Following my operation, when will I be able to return to work? Drive a car? Should I avoid lifting and other strenuous activity?
A.

Prior to your discharge from the hospital following surgery, you will be given specific guidelines on activities to avoid as you recover. Again, at your post-operative followup appointment, we'll provide guidance on your activity level. We encourage you to bring specific questions to this appointment to discuss with your physician.
